This is an original circa 1880 40 caliber percussion rifle built by James Turk of Warren County, Ohio.  The overall length is 50 1/2" with a 34" barrel and a 13 3/4" trigger pull.  The weight is 9.4 lbs.  The stock is curly maple, the furniture is brass and the inlays are German silver.  The bore is good with a few light pits and the lock and set trigger function correctly. The lock is marked T. NEAVE & SONS CINCINNATI The overall condition of the wood is good with a small piece missing at the toe of the butt and a few pieces along the top right of the forestock.  James Turk was born in 1811.  Additional photos are available upon request.
