H&B FORGE SHIP BUILDER�S AXE A shipwright�s tool, the ship builder�s axe came in a variety of shapes and sizes. The shape of the blade depended on the function of the axe. The edge of the blade was either straight or curved, most being curved; The angle of the blade also varied depending on whether hard or softer wood was to be cut. A thinner blade was required for the hardest woods. Ours also has a hammer poll as did many of the originals. The head is 4� across the the cutting edge and 6� across the top of the blade, weighs about 1.5 pounds and takes a 19� handle. Forged in Ohio.      No.  76370
