This is a very interesting piece. We think it has Austrian/Bavarian/German origins as a flintlock. At some point it was converted to percussion and was found in African in the 1950's so the story goes. The overall length is 53 1/2" with a 37" barrel and a 13 1/2" trigger pull. The weight is 7.4 lbs. The hexagonal barrel is smooth bored with minor pitting. The lock functions. The stock appears to be walnut and the furniture is iron and brass. The barrel has damascus inlay, gold or brass, from the breech to the muzzle. It appears that a one time the stock had a nose cap that is now missing. The ramrod appears to be original. The sling swivel and bale are still present, Overall in very good condition for the age and extremely interesting. Additional photos are available upon request.
