This lock's gently rounded face and sculpted hammer is indicative of the gun makers of the "Queen Anne period" and is appropriate for guns from the early 1700's into the last quarter of the eighteenth century. Imported from England and used throughout the colonies, it is of particular importance to guns from the southern sea port regions and is suitable for rifles and smoothbores of all types with particular emphasis on the guns of Maryland, Virginia and the Carolinas. This type of lock was utilized by English masters such as Barber, Wilson, Twigg and American makers like Faber and Shroyer.
Features traditional hook type forged mainspring, bearing surfaces on tumbler and sear, water resistant pan, cam action on frizzen and a nice short stroke for quick ignition. Highly polished internally. Plate measures 5-9/16" x 1-1/16". Right Hand. No. 43009
