A GENEALOGY OF THE HARMON FAMILY GUNMAKERS of GREENE COUNTY, TENNESSEE by Dave Byrd. Softbound, 8-1/2” x 11”, 52 pages. The Harmon family of gunmakers in Greene County, TN came from a single ancestor, Jacob Herman, Jr. born 1693. He came to America in 1733, from the Wattenberg area of Germany to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the time Lancaster County was an area where gun making was a very lucrative business. Several well-known and prominent gunsmiths worked in this area. The Harmon men soon learned the trade and started making the famous muzzle loading American longrifles.
